Work through the shift record in order: documents, vehicle, dispatch, passenger readiness and unresolved issues. This is a planning worksheet, not a mechanical inspection certificate.

Use the checklist while safely parked

A short written routine helps you notice missing information before work becomes busy. It is not a substitute for a required vehicle inspection, an agency procedure or a qualified mechanic’s assessment. Use the requirements applicable to your vehicle and service.

The worksheet

  1. Documents: check that the driver and vehicle records you need are available and describe the current arrangement.
  2. Vehicle: note visible concerns, cleanliness and equipment issues using the owner or agency’s procedure. Do not mark a safety-critical concern as resolved because the taxi moves.
  3. Dispatch: confirm access and know the support route if the system fails.
  4. Passenger readiness: prepare a clear receipt process and the means to give accurate destination and follow-up information.
  5. Unresolved issues: write the problem, who is responsible for answering and what confirmation is needed.

Record what actually happened

ItemStatusEvidence or next action
Documents match vehicleConfirmed / unresolvedDocument checked and date
Vehicle concernNone observed / reportedConcern and responsible contact
Dispatch accessConfirmed / unresolvedSupport route
Receipt processReady / unresolvedRequired action

“Not checked” is different from “no issue found.” Keep that distinction in the record. Do not use a tick box to conceal an unanswered safety or documentation question.

A completed fictional entry

Vehicle concern: interior warning displayed before departure. Action: reported through the owner’s procedure; waiting for the responsible person’s assessment. Status: unresolved. The example deliberately does not instruct the driver to diagnose the fault or continue driving.

Keep the routine practical

Use the browser’s Print command for a paper copy. Printing opens your browser’s own dialog; it does not send information to this website. Keep driver numbers, payment details and passenger information out of a shared public checklist.

At the end of the shift, retain the financial records separately. The cost worksheet checks arithmetic without pretending to certify the vehicle or your work.
