An NBC affiliate in the Bay Area has produced a special investigative report that exposes serious public safety concerns involving Uber.
The report uncovers evidence that Uber is shirking its responsibility to protect drivers and passengers. The company claims that it "is not a transportation company" despite the fact that its drivers are operating in cities across the country.
Drivers with criminal records have been allowed to sign up for the program. Uber drivers are also not required to carry commercial insurance that would protect them or the public in the event of a serious accident.
